I love social studies and I love teaching! I value deeply what it means to be a good citizen in our great nation as well as a global citizen on this beautiful planet. This year will be my 25th at DLPMS! I have taught eighth grade English and American history for twenty-one years and social studies on Team Panther for three years. Whew!!
I have traveled to Washington DC with Mrs. Fox and DLPMS 7th-8th graders since 2011. This year we will take our first "eighth grade" school trip. We will be in DC September 30 through October 4th. This is an incredible experience!
I have lived in Gratiot County most of my life, growing up in Alma but graduating from Ithaca High School. My husband and I have lived in Alma many years and raised our son, Jared, here. Jared is now all grown up and lives in Washington D.C., working at the National Education Institute. (DC is my favorite place to visit!)
My husband and I are happiest when we are by the water in the summer, either at home or at our cottage on Burt Lake. I must admit that the best thing about going home at the end of the day is being greeted by our Lhasa Apso, Gimli. He is named after the comical, yet brave, dwarf in the Lord of the Rings. It is a perfect name because his heart is large, and our Gimli also believes he is much bigger and braver than he really is. Gimli definitely makes our family complete!
